And for serverside web I would recommend learning PHP/ASP with mySQL/Server2008 Database access. For client side I would recommend Javascript.

C++ is unmanaged and still used when performance is the biggest concern.
C# is managed and is used widely in the software development sector.

PHP is open source, and is typically used when ASP is not. ASP is almost always used by corporastions that already have MS servers running.
Javascript is talking off now that AJAX has become popular. AJ has allolwed for a better more fluid internet exp. that many web developers are looking for.
MySQL is open source and used quite frequently when MS SQL server is not.

Re: Computer Science

Erik,
Thank you for your continued support of Braynestorm. It is nice to see a bunch of handful of dedicated users already on Braynestorm. You have already filled up many different sections of Braynestorm with your insights. We highly appreciate this. If at all possible, could you invite all of your friends to the website via the facebook group. As an added bonus, adding a relevant personalized message when you send out the invite would also be nice. It would be awesome if thousands of people eventually were using Braynestorm like you have on a daily basis. Clearly you are in the running for "The Big Idea" for the month of April.

Re: Computer Science

Are you looking for books that teach a broad scope of everything that Computer Science encompasses or more specific things like programming language, software or IT?

Re: Computer Science

anything that teaches you c++

Re: Computer Science

I am relatively new to computer science...What books are good for me to get started?

Re: Computer Science

Leave your questions and ideas here!
